    The role will involve the understanding and optimisation of audio processing algorithms, their modelling and validation. This will involve contact with the hardware and software departments and occasionally suppliers and customers.

    Key responsibilities:

    - You will be responsible for the development of DSP audio software, including codecs and advanced features such as comfort noise generation, packet loss concealment and voice activity detection.
    - This will include understanding of echo cancellation, latency, noise removal and audio codecs.
    - DSP coding in assembler with attention to optimisation.
    - Maintaining current and new software.
    - Original thought for solving complex problems in a tightly constrained embedded real-time environment.

    The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, with recent hands-on experience in the development of DSP software. You will need to show an awareness of the software development process for writing software destined for high volume consumer applications.

    Required skills/experience:
    Must have:
    - DSP assembler software development experience and a good level of system understanding
    - Experience of developing and debugging DSP software in a real-time resource-constrained system
    - The ability to work in and contribute in a technical environment
    - The ability to take ownership of projects with minimum supervision
    - The ability to communicate at all levels

    With a good degree in a relevant technical discipline, you must have proven experience in wireless DSP and embedded software development. You will have:

You will have end-to-end design responsibility for taking current and next generation wireless communication systems from concept to reality. A thorough appreciation of relevant standards will be exploited in identifying key market opportunities; this top-level goal will then be taken through algorithm development, plus floating- and fixed-point system simulations analyses. The design would then be taken to FPGA implementation by you or the broader team. This final stage would include embedded software, hardware design (with a variety of current tools, as well as those currently under development), verification, synthesis and timing closure.

    With a good degree in a relevant technical subject, you must have a thorough understanding of DSP algorithm design through to implementation; a background in one or all of the following is required –
