Summary: Highly experienced Information Security Analyst for financial R&D house, £highly competitive, London.

This well established, growing company generates Intellectual Property on behalf of its clients, and this role will allow the information security to be assessed, improved and better monitored. The focus will be on ways to enhance protection for the Intellectual Property of the company and its clients in pragmatic and effective ways while considering the impact of any changes on those working with and generating new Intellectual Property.

The role will mainly centre on security related projects, working with the existing Head of Information Security. The role will cover the following main areas:

· Creating and maintaining information flow diagrams from a security prospective

Since this is a specialist role suitable previous roles will probably include work within companies who need very careful protection of their Intellectual Property and core systems, such as pharmaceutical firms, specialist security consultancies, banks and possibly online commerce sites, although their web footprint is very small. A strong technical background and all round infrastructure skills are equally as important as the specific knowledge set. They are NOT looking for a specialist in web application security as this is not something they do.

Summary: Growing financial research software company seeks outstanding maths skills, an outstanding undergraduate degree and, ideally, PhD. London, to £highly competitive.

Working with a senior fund manager, you will be assisting in the research and coding of quantative models, validating data and supporting the team - this will evolve into quantative research and development.

You MUST have an outstanding academic background. You are most likely to have a PhD (or certainly have been considering a PhD after achieving top marks in your undergraduate degree and A levels) with a 1st Class Hons from only the very best universities in subjects such as Statistics, Applied Physics, Applied Maths or Financial Maths. Coupled with all A's at A level, you will have some finance knowledge (preferably commercial experience at a bank or hedge fund but they will consider academic experience or a strong personal interest), and have some programming experience in modern programming languages. Any experience of modelling and financial analysis with a good background in calculus and statistics will be a real plus.

Keywords: PhD, 1st, all A's, Maths, Physics, Statistics, Finance, London, Quant.

Please note: even if you don't have exactly the background indicated, do contact us now if this type of job is of interest - we may well have similar opportunities that you would be suited to. And of course, we always get your permission before submitting your CV to a company.

Mathematical Software Developer

Are you a very bright software developer/mathematician keen on the financial sector? Fancy living and working in Cyprus? Then this could be the opportunity you've been looking for!

With an award winning hedge fund, this is an exciting chance to join a team developing and managing the firm's quantitative/systematic analysis platform. The role will involve close communication with the research and trading teams.

The ideal candidate will have excellent all-round computing skills and strong mathematical ability, as well as project experience in meeting deadlines. Exposure to the finance industry is a definite plus but is not essential.

Your key responsibilities will be:
- to develop & support the company’s quantitative portfolio management, analysis and attribution systems
- to understand complex trading processes and systems and to help the ongoing development of control parameters, to ensure reliability, consistency, process quality and control

You'll have a 2.1 or 1st class degree in a numerate subject, from a top university, coupled with:
- significant previous experience in mathematical computing (preferably in the financial area)
- strong numerical skills
- good knowledge of computer languages/environments such as Python, Java or .NET, and exposure to mathematical tools such as Matlab, Gauss or R
- the ability to work well under pressure and take a proactive approach

Our client offers a stimulating work environment (in sunny Cyprus!) with exciting personal growth and long-term career opportunities.

Keywords: mathematics, maths, finance, financial sector, portfolio management, analysis, trading systems, Python, Java, .NET, Matlab, Gauss, R, Cyprus.

Please note: even if you don't have exactly the background indicated, do contact us now if this type of job is of interest - we may well have similar opportunities that you would be suited to. And of course, we always get your permission before submitting your CV to a company.

Summary: Financial software house recruiting! Junior Systems Administrator, Windows XP/2003 Server, London, to £38k. You must have at least a 2.1 (Hons) degree.

This growing company uses technology as its core strength. The technical challenges and breadth of technology exposure will be attractive to candidates wishing to be part of a dynamic team that will present them with a stimulating environment. The Systems team is growing and the company wishes to find an outstanding individual who can contribute to this team. There are a broad range of technologies and systems in use, and the team supports an advanced, high-pressure environment.

The team is notionally split into helpdesk and engineering sub-teams, but this is not run along ‘big company’ lines. They are small enough that the helpdesk team is not simply a front-line call logging unit, but is intimately involved in providing support for all aspects of the company’s systems. All members of the team have an agreed amount of time to spend on project work and training. From day 1 you will be dealing with a huge range of technology, from CRM systems to market data feeds, from Microsoft Exchange server to desktop PC deployments, from security issues to helping setup new offices, from sourcing new equipment to coming up with novel ways of disposing of old assets, from writing Perl scripts to trying to understand bastion hosts at the border of the network, from dealing with problems on automated trading systems to ensuring viable backups and continuity plans are in place.

This is very much a hands-on technical role, and provides an excellent learning experience for someone wanting to move further into the field of systems administration. You will have access to work class senior team members, who will be able to help with advice, troubleshooting, training and project work. The company has very few ‘users’ relative to normal deployments – there is much more technology than there are people. This means the learning opportunities are huge. This role will suit someone who has a real interest in infrastructure, and a demonstrable aptitude for applying computing concepts and your skills to real problems.

Working hours are based on a shift rotation. The early shift runs from 0700-1530, the late shift runs from 1030-1900, with the project/middle shift being during normal office hours.

With good A level grades, a 2.1 Hons degree or higher from a good university you will have drive and energy and preferably some experience of working within a similar role – or you may possibly be a very bright recent Computer Science graduate. Financial institution experience in a trading environment is preferable. Experience of Windows XP desktop and Windows 2003 Server, standard market data applications, Linux/Solaris, networking and major desktop applications will all be of benefit.

Salary and compensation package will depend on experience and the skills you have to offer but will be in line with expectations at a top-flight financial institution.

Keywords: 2.1, 1st, London, Systems Admin, XP, Windows 2003 server.

Summary: Strong academics needed for back office software development, London, £highly competitive.

This well established financial research and technology company has small, high-quality development teams working closely with quant researchers, IT infrastructure, operations staff and business management to enhance the algorithmic trading platform and associated applications.

The key responsibilities of this role are to build tools to better automate and optimise the booking, settlement and reconciliation processes. This will involve working closely with the Back Office team – very much a “client-facing” role, and as such demands strong inter-personal skills as well as software development expertise.

Projects will primarily involve development within Microsoft Office and standalone application development in C#, although you will have a significant degree of freedom to select the most appropriate technology solution.

With an outstanding academic record including very good A level results and at least a 2.1 Hons from a top university in a computing related or numerate subject, you must have commercial experiencing developing high quality software with experience of at least one of C++, Java, or C#; VBA development experience within Microsoft Office; RDMS experience – ideally Microsoft SQL Server; and an appreciation of good software architecture and core algorithms & data structures.

Keywords: C++, Java, C#, VBA, RDMS, Databases, Finance, London, 2.1, 1st, PhD, MSc.

Please note: even if you don't have exactly the background indicated, do contact us now if this type of job is of interest - we may well have similar opportunities that you would be suited to. And of course, we always get your permission before submitting your CV to a company.
