Welcome to September's high-tech recruitment newsletter from ecm, the high-tech recruitment experts.
In this newsletter: jobs outlook; recent jobs; skills in demand; and the latest news and upcoming events. And finally, a couple of reminders...
Jobs outlook
Well, that was the summer! As last year, we weren't quite getting the barbecue out every day, although at the time of writing it still feels like summer during the daytime, even if autumnal in the evening.
Many clients and candidates have been away of course, which always means things take longer to arrange - but encouragingly the recent upturn in the general level of recruitment activity (candidates registering, new clients and vacancies, interviews, offers etc) has continued.
And there's always a notable increase in activity once the schools, colleges and universities are back. So hopefully things will continue on an upward trend, and it will remain a good time to look for a top new high-tech job.

Skills in demand
As well as the usual substantial number of software development roles registered during the last month, probably the watchword has been 'variety' - clients are looking for roles as varied as support team leader, training engineer, build/configuration engineer, technical author, pre-sales engineer, analogue/RF IC designer, senior test engineer, software quality engineer - the list goes on.
There is a common theme though - for all these positions a solid technical background is needed.
On the software development side candidates in particular demand at present have a good academic record (2.1 or 1st Class Hons from an established university) coupled with strong C++ and/or C development experience. There are still a lot of C# vacancies too.
Excellent salary and benefits packages are on offer for the right people.
News & events
Consultants from ecm are participating in a number of events...
Our series of jobs seminars started in the spring and have proved very successful, involving both established companies and new clients who are actively recruiting.
The next jobs seminar will be a lunchtime event, held on Friday 24 September at The Hauser Forum on Cambridge University's West Cambridge site, from 12 noon to 2pm. It will showcase local employers, who will talk about their current skills requirements, together with a jobs update from ecm consultants. We hope to see you there!
And finally...
A couple of reminders:
Your chance to win £200 of high-tech gadgets in our latest brainbuster competition.
And don't forget: ecm tweets upcoming jobs - just as soon as we learn of new opportunities we will tweet about them.
