Software Engineer, OSS, Chromium / WebKit, Redis (23081)

Cambridge, Cambridgeshire
to £highly competitive + benefits

C++, open source, V8, SquirrelFish, Nitro, SpiderMonkey Redis, Cambridge

Are you an experienced developer, keen to work commercially and with open source code, and with browser technology and web infrastructure?

This up and coming Cambridge software startup is well funded, and produce specialist products for use in regulated environments which directly help improve people’s lives.

They are seeking a C++ developer with an interest in open source, and a desire to make systems work well and beautifully. As part of the role, you will interact with the open source community and codebases, review and propose resulting changes to systems.

As an experienced developer, you will also be willing to contribute significantly to the company’s core codebase, offering your expertise in the software at large.

A knowledge of Chromium, WebKit or a comparable engine (ideally including their JavaScript engines), and/or extensive knowledge of Redis, are prerequisites.

Further, you will have:

  • A good degree in computer science or a relevant subject from a top university;
  • A continuous career history as a commercial software developer;
  • Evidence of relevant commercial use of the above (though extensive open source contributions would be reviewed by way of a possible alternative); and
  • Full permission to live and work in the UK without time limit, restriction or sponsorship.

This is a full time role in an idyllic location just outside Cambridge. You will need your own transport in order to get to the company, but it is within easy reach of the city. You would be joining a small, dedicated and friendly team of skilled developers, producing products which can make a difference.
