Cloud Platform / Tools, TDD, Rails, Python, Scalability, Open-Source

A Senior Ruby Developer is sought to join a small technology team based in central Cambridge to develop an innovative cloud platform. Their tools and appreciation for UX are used worldwide and their open platform symbolises their open approach to development.

Requirements:

  • Broad experience of commercial software development, incorporating user requirements and experience as well as technical skills.
  • Good technical skills developing distributed systems in Ruby and keeping abreast of latest updates in the Ruby community. Further experience with Rails, Ember.js, Python or PHP would be highly desirable.
  • Project experience with cloud computing and SaaS.
  • Strong aptitude to stay current with modern technologies (such as Redis, Lucene, Elasticsearch, Docker, Grafana), whilst maintaining a robust approach to software development (continuous integration and testing).

The team don’t look to reinvent the wheel – if there’s a tool that’s good, they’ll use it; otherwise they want to be best in class with their developed products.

In return, the company provide an excellent salary and a range of benefits. Their offices are a short walk from the station, as well as nearby to several amenities. Further, they take a flexible approach to working hours including the possibility of remote working part of the week. Strong preference for applicants based in Cambridge.
