Product / Industrial Design Engineer (23675)

Cambridge
£Excellent DoE + benefits

product design, industrial design, CAD, 3D, concept, sketch, Cambridge

This company has been the hidden brains behind a wealth of new technologies and products that you may take for granted. From satellite phones, biochemical security scanners or wearable health trackers, through to ingenious household consumer products, medical diagnostics platforms or even 3D food printers, their engineers and scientists have quietly helped some of the best-known brands around the world deliver a market-changing product.

Whilst striving for technological advances, they recognise that ergonomics and aesthetics remains an important part of any successful product. Their expert team of product and industrial design engineers combines both the art and science of successful design. Their team can not only generate inviting concept sketches and beautiful 3D animations, but also roll their sleeves up for User Acceptance Testing, try out concepts through wire-framing or rapid CAD / 3D-printing prototyping, and assess and iterate designs to achieve a successful end-product.

They now are looking for a number of new engineers to grow their team and keep up with the popularity and demand of their work. Candidates from a broad range of professional experience will be considered, but you will need to demonstrate many of the above technical skills in product design – i.e. not just drawing concept sketches. You’ll likely have a 2.1 in Product or Industrial Design from a recognised university, or might have perhaps studied Mechanical Engineering as an undergraduate before spending a year as a post-grad in an art and design focussed course.

Candidates should submit a CV, as well as a portfolio which demonstrates not only their experience in product design, but also evidences an understanding of the entire design cycle: from problem analysis, through to concept sketches, prototyping, user acceptance, and perhaps even design for manufacture. We regret that only applications with all relevant information can be considered.

Successful candidates will enjoy a generous remuneration package, and an opportunity to work on some of the most innovative and ground-breaking new technologies being developed in the world. Based in modern and attractive offices just outside Cambridge, this company is in an excellent location for commuters travelling by car or public transport.
