Lab-on-Chip, PhD / MSc, Multidisciplinary, Gene Editing, Immunology, Start-Up

A hands-on lab scientist is sought by our client, a life science instrumentation company based close to Cambridge. The scientist will join a multidisciplinary team to develop new cell-based assays (using primary or engineered cell lines) and optimise them for commercial applications.
The role will cover all aspects from all aspects of lab research use and experimentation to commercial applications (patents, QA and due diligence on emerging science).

Requirements:

  • BSc / MSc in life science subject, and ideally a PhD in cell biology, molecular biology or biochemistry (applications without a PhD should demonstrate similar levels of hands-on practical experience for a long-term project).
  • Practical, experimental experience in cell biology, gene editing, immunology or similar.
  • It is expected you will have good basic cell and molecular biology lab skills, and subsequently gained specialist experience with cell culture and isolation, ELISA, FRET, and / or immunofluorescence.
  • Ideally worked within a multidisciplinary project and have exposure to applications for lab-on-chip device development.

Working with other scientists and engineers, you should have excellent communication skills, and an appreciation how to contribute to a multifaceted project.

In return, as well as supporting your career, the company offers an excellent package. The role is well suited for a recent PhD / postdoc looking for their first steps into industry or an industrial scientist looking for a new challenge.

Interested applicants are invited to apply with their CV and any accompanying cover letter. Shortlist for candidates will be drawn later this month with interviews to follow.

Preference is for candidates who are available now or in the next couple of months, and ideally are based in the UK. No company sponsorship is available.
