Computational Scientist - Aerospace (23966)
Summary: PhD with top A levels needed for expanding engineering consultancy, must be eligible for UK security clearance (UK national) due to nature of projects; South Coast.
This small engineering consultancy specialises in research and project studies for highly complex fluid dynamics and aerodynamics. They develop models and solutions for problems that CFD packages can’t handle. The work is mathematically intensive and involves developing models for high-profile projects with a strong space and defence bias (including rockets, missiles, space probes, Mars-landers, very hot things and very fast things!).
You will be a PhD graduate in Physics, Maths or Aerospace Engineering (or similar) with a strong mix of scientific and software skills. The ideal experience lies in computational fluid dynamics or plasma physics research / simulation with software development skills. Of particular interest are the following areas of expertise: aerodynamics, compressible flows, two phase flows, chemically reacting flows, turbulent flows, magneto-hydrodynamics, fluid structure interaction, porous materials or radiative transfer in gases. A background in developing numerical models would be of interest.
