PhD, Top Quals, Protein Engineering Specialist, Development, Multidisciplinary

WANTED: a life scientist who enjoys engineering solutions. Our client is a small technical team, working on leading edge applications based on innovative advances in medical diagnostics and drug development instrumentation. They are looking for a specialist scientist to work on antibody-based technologies that could impact multidisciplinary areas such as microfluidics, molecular biology and instrumentation development.

Requirements:

  • Strong qualifications – 1st / 2.1 in Biochemistry (or similar) from a top university AND a PhD relating to protein engineering.
  • Substantial project experience in antibody engineering and assay development – ideally published in high-impact journals.
  • Project experience in advance protein biochemistry to include recombinant technologies, chemical modifications and site-specific conjugations.
  • Broad understanding of a range of assay technologies including high-sensitive ELISAs, high-throughput assays and signal enhancement technologies.

Additional relevant post-doctoral or commercial experience would be desirable. Strong communication skills are expected – both written and oral.

This role is well suited for an industry-oriented PhD life scientist, looking to apply their skills on real-world engineering projects. They will enjoy developing new tools and applying their knowledge rather than research or theoretical problems. Therefore any demonstrable evidence of applying technology or industry understanding would be desirable.

In return, as well as working on interesting, hard applied projects – where you can be expected to be intellectually stimulated, you’ll work with leading technologists and learn from a multidisciplinary approach how technologies can be interlaced. You’ll also be well-remunerated with an excellent package.
