A top, internationally renowned software company, based in the centre of Cambridge, has an opening for a software test engineer, experienced in testing new features on mobile platforms such as iOS and Android, and desktop platforms, like Windows, macOS, and Linux.

Our client’s customers range from non-technical home users to IT experts in global companies such as Intel, Shell, Dreamworks and NASA. They are looking for a versatile software test engineer who will have at their fingertips skills in automated testing, regression testing and manual testing, as well as the knowledge to select the appropriate tool for each situation.

The Software Test Engineer will work within a supportive team of highly skilled, friendly developers and will have the opportunity to contribute to refining requirements at an early stage. Additionally you will be expected to get involved with finding solutions to customers’ problems. It is a great opportunity to gain experience with a wide range of technologies and to learn new skills.

Experience and skills necessary to succeed in this role:

  • Experience of testing applications across a range of operating systems, including mobile and desktop
  • Experience with manual, automated, exploratory and regression testing
  • Excellent communication skills in written and spoken English, with the ability to explain technical concepts both clearly and concisely
  • An enthusiasm for software testing and its essential role in producing quality, reliable software

You will be degree qualified in Computer Science or a similar subject, with good A-level grades, and full permission to live and work in the UK without time limit, restriction or sponsorship. Ideally, you will also have some awareness or experience of commercial software development, as well as some programming knowledge of Python, Java or similar language.
