Interactive cloud systems, realistic simulation, award-winning ventures

Are you a prolific, thoughtful developer with an abiding interest in the new wave of cloud technologies? Can you demonstrate wide-ranging expertise as a coder, but want to break into developing with the latest and greatest tech? We may have the job for you.

This established, self-funded and award winning company has an exceptional pedigree, founded by industry veterans. Their latest product has received extensive, positive media coverage and has the best part of a million active paid users even at this early stage.

You would be part of the team shaping the future of their platform, breaking new ground and sculpting robust, scalable, live systems. As a team you’ll also create tools for automation and to support non-technical users. You’ll need to already be a highly skilled, collaborative, creative developer; but you don’t need to checkbox all the technologies they’re using or exploring.

Your background will include:

  • Some years of contiguous experience as a commercial, full time developer
  • Expertise with building real systems (not “websites”) in industry-standard and ideally open source languages for the web (perhaps Python, PHP, Ruby or JavaScript)
  • An understanding of internet infrastructure (TCP/IP, HTTP, and you can fetch a webpage/submit a form given a port 80 socket and a terminal)
  • A platform-agnostic approach (you’re open to Linux or Windows, shells or IDEs)
  • An excellent degree from a world class university
  • Adaptability, diligence, creativity and a hunger to learn.

You also need something special and rather relevant to attract their interest – perhaps you’re good with scalable systems, or load balancing, or API design or systems architecture – maybe you just did well at university and have worked for top class companies on pretty interesting stuff. Just tell us what you’ve done that’s noteworthy, either in your spare time or (if you’re lucky) for a living.

Areas in which the team work, and which therefore may interest you, even if you’ve never used them: AWS/Azure, NoSQL (Redis, MongoDB), REST, NAT, stats, mechanics, simulation, scientific systems. If this sounds like fun… please do get in touch!

Please note: even if you don't have exactly the background indicated, do contact us now if this type of job is of interest - we may well have similar opportunities that you would be suited to. And of course, we always get your permission before submitting your CV to a company.
