Apply hands-on optics expertise to develop innovative medical-diagnostics instrumentation

This university spin-out pioneer has recently received VC investment to grow the company to develop their innovative technology. Their medical-diagnostic instrumentation is based on multidisciplinary technologies including optics. They are looking for an Optics Physicist to join their science team to design and execute experiments to validate optical detection technologies which will include signal processing and implementation of statistical methods.

Requirements:

  • Strong academic background including a PhD in experimental physics, biophysics or photonics. Postdoctoral research experience is preferred.
  • Extensive hands-on experience with microscopy systems (ideally confocal optics). Experience in developing optical systems for single molecule detection is desirable.
  • Further expertise with signal processing, image processing and data processing would be advantageous.

The role would suit an experimental scientist looking to join a progressive team, and work on technology with potentially a global impact in healthcare. Within the role, there will be varied work including hands-on R&D, keeping abreast of relevant technology and IP landscape.
