Have you recently graduated or perhaps just started a new role? This established tech company is a leading scientific innovator with a broad range of application areas. Their Cambridge based software team is looking to recruit - could that be you?

Whether you have recently graduated and gone travelling, or started a new role but keen to seek more challenging work, this is an excellent opportunity to join this progressive, collaborative company. They seek a bright individual with interest in software engineering and applied sciences to join them, and learn from experienced colleagues. They are not expecting the person they hire to be the “finished article”, but they someone who can ask the right question, is keen to learn and can demonstrate a strong attention-to-detail.

Requirements:

  • Strong academic pedigree (A/A* at A-levels in maths and science, or 2 sciences; and a 1st / 2.1 degree in a traditional STEM subject (maths, physics, chemistry, computer science, biology) from a Russell Group university. (1st Class humanity graduates who have completed a Masters conversion in computer science will also be considered – they must have A/A* grade maths or a science subject at A-levels.)
  • Interest in software engineering – must be able to demonstrate projects using Python, C#, Java, JavaScript, C++ or similar. Projects could be hobby projects or numerical scripting. Ideally will have some exposure to OO principles.
  • Strong attention to details. Must enjoy getting things right-first-time. This is a software engineering role not a programming role – the difference is in thinking about problems from the beginning rather than creating work-arounds as problems arise.
  • Any exposure to Jenkins, Git, or Jira would be desirable.

The team use an Agile approach to their software projects, including 2 week sprints and stand-up meetings. They are keen that all participants can present their ideas and communicate well is this team.
