Software and electronics development for hand-held analytical instrumentation

Based in central London, this profitable technology company develop and build, high value analytical instruments used in healthcare applications. Their novel tools are the products based on their own in-house scientific R&D expertise. They currently are recruiting for a Systems Engineer to provide both firmware and software engineering knowledge for new instruments – this could include: working with embedded processors and electronic sensors; Windows PCs via USB or wi-fi; or signal processing.

Requirements:

  • Ideally degree qualified with project experience writing low-level portable drivers in embedded C. Familiarity with the following would be beneficial:
    • ARM cortex-M architecture
    • Embedded buses (12C, SPI, SD Cards)
    • USB bulk transfer
    • External RAM
  • High level programming experience with ideally C#.NET or C++ (including multithreading).
  • Past exposure using electronics debugging real-time system tools (JTAG, oscilloscopes, logic analysers).

This is an interesting role for the right candidate to join and take a key position. Pro-activity and self-motivation are important as the team are keen to recruit someone who can work independently on multidisciplinary projects. As this is a small team, candidates who would enjoy gaining exposure to all areas of the business (including attendance of conferences or meeting clients) would be a strong match.

The position is open to a recent graduate or post-graduate with strong, relevant hobby projects (building microcontroller-based instruments) to someone with industry experience who has worked on a variety of embedded / electronics projects. All applicants must have the right to work in the UK, and preference is for someone based in London or who is looking to relocate to London.
