Head of Engineering - strategy, innovation, management (25050)

This is a superb career development opportunity for a very experienced Technical Manager with superb people skills and a strong track record of success, to join an innovative and successful company based in Cambridge, with ambitious and immediate plans to rapidly expand within the international parent group.

Reporting directly to the CTO, you will be the technical authority for the engineering department, taking overall technical and budgetary responsibility for the design and development of a diverse portfolio of compact and reliable consumer products.

With a high degree of technical sophistication, these products range from stand-alone electro-mechanical devices with embedded software and user centred interfaces through to connected “Internet of Things” remote monitoring solutions, including wearables, with all associated apps and online services.

You will lead the engineering team (incorporating software, embedded systems, mechanical / product design, and project management) and will provide the strategic leadership and operational management across all engineering activities. You will also coordinate activities within the rest of the company and wider international group, including other global innovation centres, operating with a strong philosophy of mutual support and sharing of ideas and innovations.

With a wide-ranging technical understanding across multiple engineering disciplines, proven strategic thinking and operational problem-solving skills, you should be an experienced project manager (ideally using Agile processes) with a solid track record in managing and mentoring the significant expansion of an engineering team.
