Providing techncial field support for scientific instruments in UK and overseas

This Cambridge instrumentation company works with customers all across the UK and overseas. They are currently recruiting for an Instrumentation Support Engineer to provide field service support including installations, repairs, maintenance, upgrades and demonstrations. The role is a fine balance of technical experience and customer-focused activities.

Requirements:

  • 3+ years of experience as a technical support engineer / service engineer, working on complex instrumentation products.
  • Knowledge of how instruments are put-together and work – this should include electronics, optics, fluidics, pneumatics and control systems.
  • Able to read and understand engineering drawings, wiring schematics and technical documentation.
  • Good communication skills (both written and oral).

Is it expected that applicants will hold a relevant qualification (BSc/BEng or HND in engineering); have a full, international driving licence and valid passport; be physically fit (could be on your feet for much of the working day, and be able to handle items up to 25kg); able to travel (up to 50% will be on client sites); and have a good appreciation of safe working processes.
