Seeking a bright graduate with a passion for coding

Passionate about becoming a software developer but don’t have the perfect mix of languages demanded by the advert? Do not despair! This open-minded company is looking for a bright graduate who can demonstrate a real interest in coding by way of some substantial home or academic projects.

Projects can be in any programming language but we will need to see source code, preferably via an online repository such as GitHub. Your code will need to be well-structured, commented, and robust. Brownie points will be awarded for a well-manicured revision history, demonstrating your mastery of version control. C, C++, C#, Go, Java or JavaScript would probably be the most useful languages, but Lua or Python would also be of interest.

This is a rare chance to learn coding in C/C++ on-the-job with a team of experienced engineers. The company is a recent start-up who is already profitable through a major commercial tie-up and is looking to add features and functionality to their existing Linux-based software. Working with a small team will allow you to get involved with a wide range of tasks and have an excellent opportunity to kick start your career as a developer by picking up a raft of valuable skills.

You will need:

  • A 1st or 2.1 degree in a STEM subject for a well-respected university
  • At least one impressive hobby or academic software project with source code for inspection
  • Full right to work in the UK as our client cannot offer sponsorship

Sounds like a plan? Why not send your CV to ECM Selection? We can only discuss in detail with the top few candidates (with no obligation to proceed of course), but we do read every CV and try to respond to everyone. You could even recommend a friend for £250, details at http://ecmselection.co.uk/tell-a-friend.
