Making ecology accessible in a benevolent organisation

Looking to make a real difference? This well-funded and reputable, even prestigious non-profit organisation are major contributors to real world issues around the climate, green technology and ecosystems worldwide.

Join them as Visualisation Developer to explore and explain cutting edge environmental research, bringing knowledge accessibly to the public through web technology. This is a creative, technical role for a talented software developer, on an enthusiastic and focused team where new ideas are welcome.

It’s likely you will have a good technical degree in a relevant subject from a top university (though we will review great CVs if accompanied by an exemplary portfolio of work, including code samples, as a potential alternative). In addition you will show:

  • A good development background with commercial experience
  • A clear knowledge of modern web technologies and their Agile development
  • An equal appreciation for the development culture around modern web frameworks
  • The experience to embrace rapid development, iteration, prototyping and experimentation
  • A genuine desire to make a difference

Technologies of interest, given the above: JavaScript (with Angular, Vue, React or Express, and possibly Grunt / Gulp and Jest); HTML 5 and CSS 3 (with LESS, SASS or SCSS); and either Rails, ASP.NET MVC, Node / Meteor or Django (with Ruby, C#, JavaScript or Python respectively).

If you’ve worked with maps, cartographic or geographic (GIS) visualisation libraries, services or software that is beneficial, as is a good grasp of SQL.

The successful candidate will embark on a career with a benevolent organisation with excellent gender diversity. They offer a competitive salary with great benefits, including an exceptional pension scheme for your long term future.

If you’re interested, please do get in touch with ECM Selection – whilst we can only put forward the top few candidates, we do read every CV and try to respond to everyone. If you’re already registered with us, recommend a friend or colleague for £250.

Please note: even if you don't have exactly the background indicated, do contact us now if this type of job is of interest - we may well have similar opportunities that you would be suited to. And of course, we always get your permission before submitting your CV to a company.
