API-level and exploratory testing in scientific software

In these Agile days some companies pay lip service to testing, or are encouraging developers to take on that work; here is a reputable company who turn to experienced testers, and they need your help!

You’ll be working in a mainstream programming language on the automation test suite for top tier scientific software. Used by major companies (and even actual rocket scientists), it has applications from Formula One to space exploration and self-driving cars. They’re a friendly company with university roots, in the heart of Cambridge, using the latest tech and practising pragmatic Agile methods.

You’ll bring:

  • Experience writing and extending automation test suites with at least one (ideally more) mainstream programming languages such as C#, Java, JavaScript or C++
  • An understanding of Agile approaches, source control and continuous integration
  • A good degree in a technical subject from a well-ranked university, and strong A-levels
  • Natural curiosity and an investigative, detective’s mindset
  • An interest in using your own intelligence when testing!

This is a full time, permanent position in a company with a good culture and a lasting track record. As well as a competitive salary, they offer a comprehensive benefits package including private medical care, bonuses, and an excellent pension.

Developers sit together in cross-discipline, informally Agile teams, with pleasant, expansive spaces to both meet and relax, and separate meeting rooms for extended discussions. The atmosphere is pleasing, cordial and conversational without being intrusive. A powerful PC, multiple monitors, and the latest development tools are standard for all developers.

Their modern Cambridge offices have parking on-site, and are a short walk from a nearby train station, plus being in easy cycling distance for Cambridge residents. Select other office locations are possible including Sheffield, Oxford and Sussex; contact us for details.
