Based in Cambridge, UK - this location is recognized worldwide as a centre of excellence for biotechnology and high-tech product development. With rapid growth, they now seek an experienced Mechanical Engineer / Product Designer - specialising in disposables, to join the team. Your core responsibilities will include: - Specification, design, development and transfer to manufacturing of disposable cartridges for medical diagnostic products - Focus on low-cost, high volume designs and manufacturing processes - Liaison with assay development and manufacturing teams to take biochemistry out of the lab and into professional and non-professional use diagnostic products - Providing technical leadership in development projects to create world-class designs - Promoting best-practice cartridge engineering attitudes and approaches - Helping to build the product development team in Cambridge to deliver outstanding designs and products Your profile: - Impressively qualified (top degree / top university) in a suitable technical / scientific discipline - Significant hands-on experience of designing, developing and manufacturing disposable products or cartridges for high volume manufacture using plastics, laminates, adhesives etc. - Experience with design and implementation of fluidic systems an advantage - Hands-on experience of developing medical diagnostic products / medical devices an advantage - Highly numerate and familiar with use of tools such as Design of Experiments and Six-Sigma - Familiarity with Regulatory and Quality Management systems for medical device development preferred but not essential - Familiar with MS Office, SolidWorks or other 3D CAD tools, FEA and other design simulation tools - Willingness to travel internationally as required This is a superb opportunity for rapid career development for the right candidate.
