You will be taking the lead optical design role on multidisciplinary projects, including hands-on product development, design of optical and sensing systems and components, systems engineering, as well as taking the lead role in planning, proposal & concept generation, project management and liaison with clients. You will also use your strong creative and technical skills to make a significant contribution to development projects and to participate in consultancy work within client companies. You will be expected to liaise with others across many engineering disciplines and be responsible for specifying, designing and executing experimental programmes with teams of scientists and technicians. You will manage tasks within projects requiring delivery within tight timescales and budgets, managing both internal and external resources. There are opportunities for this side of the role to develop rapidly into management of projects including having full responsibility for delivery to our clients.
