Based in Cambridge, UK - this location is recognized worldwide as a centre of excellence for biotechnology and high-tech product development. With rapid growth, they now seek a well-qualified Mechanical Design Engineer to take responsibility for the hands-on design, development and manufacture of products in high volumes - using plastics, laminates, adhesives - including design and implementation of fluidic parts and functions. Your core responsibilities will include: • Mechanical design and development of medical diagnostic products • Turning product ideas and user needs into beautiful, cost-effective, high quality product mechanical designs • Focus on low-cost, high manufacture volume designs and manufacturing processes • Promoting best-practice product design attitudes and approaches and implementing global design guidelines into products • Ensuring the product development team in Cambridge delivers outstanding designs and products Your profile: • Impressive academic record (top degree / top university) in a suitable technical / design discipline • Expert user of 3D CAD systems • Significant hands-on experience of designing, developing and manufacturing consumer or medical products for manufacture in high volume • Well versed and enthusiastic about user-centric product design • Familiar with engineering mechanical science: statics, dynamics, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics • Familiar with manufacturing processes for high volume product manufacture • Familiarity with Regulatory and Quality Management systems for medical device development an advantage but not essential • Willingness to travel internationally as required This is a superb opportunity for rapid career development for the right candidate.
