Product / Mechanical Engineer Technician - medical diagnostic products, 3D CAD, low-cost / high volume manufacture Cambridge, UK, to c£30k + top benefits package This is a superb opportunity within the small R&D group of an international company involved in the innovation, design and development of specialised medical diagnostic instruments and consumer products. Based in Cambridge, UK - this location is recognized worldwide as a centre of excellence for biotechnology and high-tech product development. With rapid growth, they now seek an experienced Mechanical Technician / Engineer to join the team. Your core responsibilities will include: • Carrying out assembly and commissioning of test rigs – mechanical and electronic • Carrying out assembly and test of prototype components and instruments – mechanical and electronic • Manufacturing mechanical parts • Liaising with suppliers to specify and purchase components for test rigs and prototypes • Advising and assisting design engineers in the design and specification of test rigs • Carrying out test programmes and writing reports • Assisting in writing and validating assembly and test SOPs Your profile: • Minimum of an HNC / HND in a suitable technical / design discipline • Significant hands-on experience of mechanical manufacture and assembly (metals and plastics) • Familiar with use of electronic test equipment and computers to automate test rigs and gather data • Familiar with running test programmes and writing up test reports • Familiar with component specification and ordering from suppliers • Highly motivated and self-starting, able to define and organize your own work, not afraid of deadlines • Deep appreciation of quality with an eye for detail and seeing a job through to the end • Familiarity with 3D CAD packages an advantage but not essential • Familiarity with Regulatory and Quality Management systems for medical device development an advantage but not essential This is a superb opportunity for rapid career development for the right candidate.
