Outstanding academics needed, strong maths

Summary: Quant Analyst, outstanding academics and maths needed, London, £competitive + benefits.

This leading software house provides quality software and systems for use in investment management. They now seek exceptional individuals to join their Quantitative Research Team. The role involves analysts seeking patterns in large, dirty and noisy data sets, using techniques such as time series analysis, probability theory and regression analysis.

The team are all extremely strong mathematical problem solvers, with outstanding undergraduate backgrounds in maths, physics, computer science and engineering. About half have PhDs, and several spent time as postdocs. Some previously worked in investment banks, some in technology companies, others joined directly from academia.

Previous financial experience is not required, although an interest in finance and the motivation to rapidly learn is a prerequisite. Since programming is an important part of the work, knowledge of numerical programming in an object-oriented language is useful. Experience working with large data sets is also valuable.

What is essential is practical, hands-on ability to apply mathematical concepts to real world financial problems, to implement theoretical insights as working code, and the ability to work independently in a research environment.

This is an outstanding opportunity to join this highly innovative company at the cutting edge of technology.
