These websites and web services allow complex mathematical queries and operations to be carried out against a live, central database. Despite the fact that most of these activities are computationally demanding, the tools must be robust to very high peak usage. This requires careful optimisation of database queries, combined with advanced caching and indexing technologies. In addition, despite their rich interface, our client’s web tools must remain responsive even over low-bandwidth and high-latency networks. This is achieved through a combination of efficient page design with technologies such as page compression and chunked responses. Their Web Solutions Group is responsible for the design and development of all web tools, ranging from corporate intranet implementations through to the sites maintained on their own servers. Development work spans all tiers of the application: Due to expansion, our client is seeking a degree-qualified, bright candidate with experience of .NET programming and developing AJAX based websites. Experience of ASP.NET MVC would be useful. Most importantly, you'll be a team player with a strong engineering, scientific or mathematical background and good communications skills, able to thrive in a small company environment. A range of experience from recent graduate will be considered.
