Our client is a financial consultancy who specialise in financial modelling and advice for major investment projects. Their clients are large corporations, governments, construction companies or a combination of all three. They now have a number of opportunities for established mathematical modellers with commercial experience. You will be based in Central London and will build new financial models and analyse existing models for a range of clients.
Successful applicants will have at least a 2.1 degree in a numerate discipline such as maths, engineering, physics, computer science, electronics, etc and an A grade in A-level maths. You will also have commercial experience of building mathematical models (preferably in Excel and Visual Basic). Any experience within the financial sector, or a demonstrably strong understanding of finance would be extremely advantageous.

Our client is a small but established fluid dynamics consultancy who specialise in advanced modelling of rockets, missiles, space probes, Mars-landers, very hot things, very fast things and things which go bang (unexpectedly or otherwise). They have an impressive array of clients and high-profile projects with a strong space and defence bias. Currently they have a vacancy for a hands-on experimentalist to organise and conduct experiments at facilities such as wind tunnels and ballistic ranges. The test facilities are located across Europe and so this role will involve 2-3 days travel at a time, adding up to about 4-6 weeks a year.
You will be a top graduate or postgraduate scientist, engineer or mathematician, ideally with a post-doc or some commercial experience behind you. Practical experience of wind tunnel testing or experimental fluid dynamics is essential. Strong maths and a knowledge of computational physics, CFD and/or FORTRAN would be advantageous. The successful applicant will receive a generous salary, a company contributory pension (matched up to 10%), an annual bonus related to the company's performance and 20 - 25 days holiday. This key role is for a high calibre engineer with a strong background in real-time /embedded software, to work with some of the brightest engineers to target algorithms on to diffferent firmware/hardware (particularly COTS cards). You must be an experienced engineer with some expertise in putting such algorithms into real time systems/hardware.
