Duties:
· Responsible for mechanical design for new and existing products and associated test and manufacturing equipment. Reporting to the Principal mechanical Engineer.
· Provide mechanical design services at all stages of new product development.
· Commission prototypes, and oversee handover of mechanical designs.
· Working on the transfer of products BOMs to their new ERP system.
· Maintain existing product designs.

Qualifications / Experience:

· A good degree in Mechanical Engineering
· 3+ years designing electro-mechanical instruments for manufacture
· ProE, injection moulding, & materials selection expertise
· BOM structure experience
· Proven design-for-manufacture track record
· Solid theoretical, analytical and experimental grounding
· Competent machine tool operator (drill, lathe, mill) able to produce prototypes & test gear in-house
· Flair, energy, insight, judgment, creativity, team-skills
· Experience of scientific instruments or science skills preferred
· Problem solving ability; a passion for engineering and innovation

As a senior physicist or engineer you will be expected to provide innovation and technical leadership during the complete project life cycle. · An outline understanding of a wide range of physical sensing technologies.

· Experience of commercial negotiations and the sales process
· Experience of algorithm development for sensing applications
