Technical Business Developer / Consultant (22577)

Cambridge
to c£55,000 DoE + Benefits
Filled

Industrial Applications / Energy, Business Development, Negotiations, IP

The consultancy marketplace is highly competitive with Cambridge based consultancies taking a lead role in winning bids and successfully delivering technical projects ranging from industrial applications (controls, robotics and automation); innovative use of technology in infrastructure; and optimising efficiencies in engineering systems.

Our client is a leading exponent in this field, and is typically the turn-to-company when other companies are faced with technically challenging problems. They are looking to expand their reach and with the growth of the company, are looking for a Technical Business Developer to join their commercial team.

In this role, you’ll identify and secure new business opportunities. You’ll then take commercial responsibility to deliver the project by working closely with technical project managers. Through these processes, you’ll be at hand to identify new IP and possible participation of spin-out ventures.

The role fits a lateral thinker, who enjoys the commercial activities whilst being grounded within an engineering company. It’s likely you’ll have an engineering background (2.1 or better technical degree) including commercial development experience. At this stage of your career, you’ll now want to develop along business lines, utilising your contacts and market knowledge. This will be evidenced by your most recent experience in: engineering business development; innovation management; or NPI for disruptive products.

It is assumed you’ll have excellent communication skills, and have experience in negotiations, presentations, project management and marketing activities. The role will be based in Cambridge, UK with international travel.
