Back End, Games, PHP, Database, Python, Ruby, Cambridge

Our client is a leading-edge video game developer. The advent of networked multi-player games has given rise to a need for high-capacity, high performance infrastructure to support them. Do you have the skills and flair to move this forward, developing and deploying high capacity, reliable cloud-based services and tools? You would be working with a small, tight-knit team of bright highly-motivated peers, working on an intrinsically exciting subject area in a much sought-after industry sector.

To apply you will need:

  • A 1st or 2:1 degree in a suitably math-heavy subject from a leading university.
  • Experience in working with public cloud services such as AWS and developing server-based infrastructure.
  • A high level of skill in scripting with Python, JavaScript, PHP, or Ruby, and preferably also with web servers such as Apache, SQL or NoSQL databases.
  • You will need excellent attention to detail, and problem solving, team-working and verbal and written communication skills, and be eager to learn new skills.

The following would also be desirable: general coding skills in languages such a C++ or Java, web front end skills, understanding of networking protocols, version control systems and open source development and server or network management tools.

Please note: even if you don't have exactly the background indicated, do contact us now if this type of job is of interest - we may well have similar opportunities that you would be suited to. And of course, we always get your permission before submitting your CV to a company.
