This is a superb role for a bright, numerate candidate who can offer an impressive analytical / problem solving background and excellent customer-facing and communication skills. You will join an established team which provides the interface between the software development department and their customers - giving detailed technical advice and assistance to ensure that customers gain the maximum benefit in using the software. You will also provide input to the software development planning process, and prepare and present training material, along with example software and documentation, to accompany product releases.
The role would suit someone who wants more “people contact” than a pure hands-on software development role may offer – but still seeks the day-to-day technical challenge. Although this role involves aspects of software engineering and requires many of the same skills as a software development role, it is NOT suitable for those wishing to pursue a career as a full-time software developer.
Ideally, your background would include some / most of the following:
- An impressive academic record including a numerate degree
- Experience of developing or supporting technical or scientific software
- Analysis and problem solving
- CAD / 3D geometry systems / Graphics – as an end user or software developer
- Maths and computational geometry
- Good working knowledge of a high level language, preferably C or C++
The role is open to suitably qualified graduates / PhDs through to more experienced candidates. A key requirement is simply that you have a real interest in the technology and an enthusiasm to work in a customer liaison role / environment.
