Starting as a philanthropic initiative, our client has grown over its 10 year plus history to be a pioneering product development company. Their technology area is applied to optical lenses, and they seek a Materials Engineer to lead new projects in materials development. The position is a mixture of hands-on materials science, system modelling, customer-contact and close working with the prototyping and manufacture teams.
- Masters in Physical Chemistry, Material Science or Nanotechnology related to optics. Strong preference for a PhD holder in a relevant subject area.
- Project experience working on optical elastomers or optical coatings. Knowledge of urethane or siloxane chemistry would be highly beneficial.
- Broad materials analysis experience including systems modelling using MATLAB. Experience with opto-mechanical properties would be useful.
- Additional experience with LabVIEW, FEA analysis or CAD packages would be desirable.
Good communication skills and the flexibility to travel overseas on occasion are required.
In return, an excellent remunerations package is available.
