Electromagnetic Modelling, ANSYS, EMI, thermal modelling, smart materials

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Simulation Engineer to advance their career, using their established skills in ANSYS simulation software to model electromagnetic emissions. Our client is a world-leader in smart materials, with over 100 patents to their name. They take pride in not only developing smart materials but applying them to cutting-edge, hi-tech products and seeing those products through to mass production. They now seek a Senior Simulation Engineer to join their team of world-class electronics, control and firmware engineers.

The role will involve modelling the electromagnetic emissions from PCB designs and predicting system-level electromagnetic interference (EMI), thermal and electrical performance. The Senior Simulations Engineer will be responsible for the validity of models created, as well as specifying, creating and evaluating solutions to drive the technology forwards. They will also be expected to support the transfer of the technology into high volume production, which may involve occasional international travel.

You will need to be energetic, analytical and creative, practiced at successfully prioritising and supporting long-term and short-term objectives, and able to make significant contributions to a team of highly skilled engineers.

Experience and skills necessary to succeed in this role:

  • At least 3 years’ industrial experience working successfully with ANSYS simulation software
  • A background in modelling EMI from PCBs and from current flows in powered devices
  • Experience of thermal modelling and modelling the electrical characteristics of systems
  • Able to interact with technical teams in a fast-paced environment
  • Comfortable interacting with customers and partners

You will have a good degree (2:1 or above) in Engineering, Electronics, Maths or Physics, or a similar subject, with good A-level grades, and full permission to live and work in the UK without time limit, restriction or sponsorship.
