Client-facing scientific analytical instrumentation role

An exciting opportunity for a Scientific Applications Specialist to work on sniffer technology for detecting trace amounts of substances. This position will require a diverse set of skills such as physical chemistry, liquid chromatography, mass spectrometers, ion optics and vacuum systems. You will need to be a confident presenter and possess the desire to meet with customers and travel for business.

The role would suit a recent PhD with a commercial outlook wishing to transition into an industry based role. You will have an excellent technical degree from a world-leading university providing you with a solid grounding in Physics, Physical Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry or a related discipline. Previous experience of this type of position is not required since they are seeking someone with a client facing personality and a scientific background.

Some of the skills you will acquire in this role include:

  • Sensitivity to a sales environment whilst providing technical assistance
  • Enhanced presentation skills for seminars, exhibitions and demonstrations
  • Trouble shooting an experiment / installation while at customers’ sites
  • Exposure to building relationships with customers
  • Experience generating application notes, manuals and white papers
  • Enhanced client facing skills and driving external projects

This is an excellent opportunity for someone to remain technical whilst happy to work alongside a sales team. Based outside the M25 in Surrey, this company offers an excellent opportunity to work in the following technologies: ion optics, vacuum systems, atmospheric / electrospray ionisation and mass spectrometer systems. Experience of these technologies is extremely beneficial enabling you to assist in product development.
