Editor and Language Classification Specialist (23679)
This is a unique role for logical thinker with excellent English language skills, a technical mindset, unwavering attention to detail, and a strong affinity with languages (spoken and written, not programming).
Some people (software developers and writers alike) grow up fascinated by languages and grammars, and the work done by Chomsky, Frege and Panini. If you’re one of these people, however your interest arose, you may find this role appeals to you.
Joining a well-established, profitable and growing software company in Cambridge, your work will be vital in enhancing their software systems. They employ NLP and advanced algorithms to process and categorise written content, but their systems need the guiding hand of a language expert.
You will have:
- A good degree in a technical subject, or in English Language / Linguistics, from a top university
- An interest in working amongst technical colleagues in a software team
- Good IT skills, since you will be interacting with technical software
- Good people skills, attention to detail, and commercial awareness
- Relevant commercial experience, or a relevant PhD
Affinity with multiple languages, experience working with professional translators, and an interest in technology and in current affairs, would be highly beneficial.
This role is full time and permanent, based in the city of Cambridge with good access to local facilities. It offers a competitive salary and package as befits a software company in this area.
