Junior Full Stack Developer (24741)

to £40k DoE

Hey there! This is just one of many top career opportunities ECM can suggest — if this job isn't right for you, let us do the hard work! Tell us what you're looking for and we'll start searching for you. We promise to treat your CV as strictly confidential.

WebGUI, High Speed Comms and Linux

This is a fine chance to join a friendly and dynamic start-up at an early stage, creating industry-leading ultra high performance technology that you can buy and use at home. Joining a small tight-knit development team, this varied role will have you working on all aspects of the software stack from Linux kernel through to graphics and networking. This is a role for a technology enthusiast who wants to gain a broad skillset whilst making a big impact from day one.

This company is successful, and with their technology already licensed to a major manufacturer of consumer electronics, they are now looking to expand and improve their product’s capabilities still further. To achieve this they need a bright Full-Stack Developer with a good working knowledge of Linux, and already-excellent coding skills in C++, JavaScript and AJAX, HTML and CSS. Some knowledge of Computability, networking protocols, kernel development, and scripting with Python, PHP, or Lua would be preferred.

Of course an excellent technical degree will help, but the key to success here is that you can show a strong and sustained interest in technology and software development. At the very minimum you will need to have solid commercial experience, or significant non-trivial home projects or solid contributions to open-source projects to point to. These will need to be viewable online via GitHub or similar, and will illustrate:

  • Well-structured, well-commented code
  • Efficient, robust software design
  • Defensive programming and appropriate thought given to testing
  • Version control (we’ll want to see how your code has evolved over time)

Our client is located in a central location conveniently close to Cambridge city centre. As a recent start-up they are unable to offer sponsorship, so you will need full right to work in the UK without restriction or time limit.

Interested? Send your CV to ECM Selection; whilst we can only put forward the top few candidates, we do read every CV and try to respond to everyone. Or recommend a friend for £250, details at http://ecmselection.co.uk/tell-a-friend.
