A "green field" platform development role with remote working

This startup is making inroads in a new and innovative field, connecting major household name companies with skilled professionals and enthusiasts via a brand new technology platform. Well-funded by experienced entrepreneurs and business leaders, and with grand ambitions, there is a significant and otherwise untapped market in which they are positioning themselves to be the key player; major companies are already on board.

This is a rare opportunity to join a small team in this “green field” development role for their software platform. The system is live but has plenty of new ground to explore, and they’re open to new technical directions. To join them, you’ll be an experienced developer, perhaps with a specialty either in web app development or in server-side architecture, but in any case happy to work across the full stack. Working remotely and collaboratively, you’ll be easily able to meet up with colleagues in Cambridge once a week at least, so it’s likely you’ll be in Cambridgeshire.

You will have a good degree in a technical subject from a top university, strong A-levels (or exemplary equivalent experience), and:

  • A good sense of OO design, HTTP API design, and software architecture
  • The ability to write clean, clear and reliable TypeScript or JavaScript (and you’ll be happy to touch frameworks like React, Angular, or similar)
  • A CV which demonstrates your ability to produce full stack web applications

You’ll be happy to work across the full stack, but may be more comfortable with either:

  • User interface design, building highly functional and reasonably attractive web apps (you do not need design skills, but the ability to produce well designed results, however sourced or developed), or
  • Server-side development for the cloud (AWS, Azure, Google) using Node, C#, Golang, or one of many other equally viable languages

You will have excellent communication skills and a strong work ethic. You will be able to prioritise and know when to get on and solve a problem, and when to discuss it. You will also have full existing permission to live and work in the UK without time limit, restriction or sponsorship. For the right candidate, the role will offer a highly competitive salary, creative freedom, autonomy, and good prospects. If you’re keen on audio, music, or sports, you may find some work especially to your liking.

Interested? Send your CV to ECM Selection; whilst we can only put forward the top few candidates, we do read every CV and try to respond to everyone. If you’re already registered with us, recommend a friend for £250 – see http://www.ecmselection.co.uk/tell-a-friend.

Please note: even if you don't have exactly the background indicated, do contact us now if this type of job is of interest - we may well have similar opportunities that you would be suited to. And of course, we always get your permission before submitting your CV to a company.
