Lead Platform Developer (25556)

Cambridge, remote working

A new platform development role for an aspiring tech lead

This startup is instrumental in a new and innovative field, connecting major household name companies with skilled professionals and enthusiasts via a new technology platform. Well funded by experienced entrepreneurs and business leaders, and with further ambitions, there is a significant and otherwise untapped market in which they are the key player; major companies are already on board.

This is a rare opportunity to continue early stage development for their software platform. To join them, you’ll be a lead or senior software developer with experience building cloud or other online distributed systems. Working remotely, and ideally from the Cambridge area to meet with directors and colleagues regularly, you'll be taking the lead on this new and well architected codebase. You will make good use of external resources and partners, and proven technologies. As things progress it’s likely you will be part of the hiring process, further building a supportive team around you.

You will have:

  • A good degree in computing or a related subject from a top university, or exemplary equivalent experience
  • Scalable, full stack web development skills, writing clean, clear and reliable JavaScript; familiarity with either AWS, Azure or Google Cloud; and the ability to manage agile software projects and lead a small team
  • Excellent communication skills and a strong worth ethic, able to prioritise (and you know how to delegate)

Ideally you will have experience with Node (NodeJS) API development, the React and/or Angular frameworks, relational and NoSQL databases, and Linux development. It would be beneficial to have enough user interface design skills to assemble functional and aesthetically pleasing sites.

Knowledge of real-time media streaming is advantageous but not required. For the right candidate, the role will offer a highly competitive salary and excellent prospects.
