Working remotely, building cloud services with an enthusiastic, Agile team

A rare opportunity for an experienced Cloud Software Engineer to work remotely with an innovative and growing Cambridge company, providing essential and sustainable services to developing countries.

With a true passion for technology and using it to solve real-world problems, you are a confident engineer with a broad range of experience, enabling you to choose the best tool for the current task. You will be comfortable building modular, repeatable and extensible software deployed on cloud services. The company has offices in Cambridge but the software team works remotely, meeting at the Cambridge offices once a quarter for a relaxed get together.

You would be working within a close knit, Agile team, who love solving hard and meaningful problems together, collectively owning the software they develop and operate.

The Cloud Software Engineer will have a background in commercial software engineering, building and deploying software on AWS or GCP, backed up by a good degree in Computer Science or similar. The following skills and experience are required to be successful in this post:

  • Skilled in using cloud software architectures, such as FaaS or microservices
  • Comfortable with test-driven development, testing frameworks, using continuous integration and version control software (Git)
  • Skilled in object-orientated languages, such as: Golang, Node.js, Python or Java (Spring Framework)

If you also have experience of some of the following, you will have a head-start as you will get the chance to work with many of them in this position:

  • Web development using React and app development using React Native
  • Docker, Kubernetes, Helm
  • NoSQL and SQL databases
  • Networking e.g. IP, DNS, HTTP/HTTPS

Full permission to live and work in the UK without time limit, restriction or sponsorship will also be required.
