Applying science and engineering to commercial invention

These collaborative engineers and scientists develop patentable inventions for big name product companies. They develop IP, not physical products – that’s left to their clients – and offer “invention as a service”.

You will have a love of technology, even in everyday devices. You have intellectual curiosity, take things apart. You have spare time engineering projects which your CV talks about.

You have a first-class education, and broadly studied engineering, applied physics, electronics and/or product-focused sciences to an advanced level. You have a sound, intuitive grasp of the fundamentals of electronics. You have an appreciation of commercial applications through your work or internships.

You like to communicate with technical people. You can judge when the listener wants a high-level overview, and when they want to start talking in technical detail.

You will be keen to apply these skills to the collaborative creation of new and patentable inventions. You'll be able to identify the "inventive step" to which makes inventions patentable.

This is a chance for a unique and intellectually rewarding full time role, working with smart colleagues, inventing together. Business travel is likely, and up to 50% home working each week (100% in the short term) is possible, with the rest in their Cambridge or London offices.
