Mathematical modelling of complex systems in Java

This small but highly successful and expanding company specialises in solving numerical optimisation problems in industry. Their unique software tools solve intricate and intractable real-world problems, providing a high value service to industry. They are seeking an accomplished Java Developer to join their team.

You would be using Java to develop software models of complex industrial processes, simulating external factors such as resource dependencies and scheduling interactions. The output of these models will enable substantial savings in time and costs for the end customer.

This job calls for academic excellence in computer science, mathematics, mathematical modelling or similar, coupled with strong software engineering skills in Java. You will need to be au-fait with software engineering best practice, comfortable working with large codebases, and designing, implementing, and debugging intricate Java programs.

You will need:

  • An excellent academic background with a 1st or 2.1 STEM degree from a very highly ranked university (Russel Group or equivalent). (An MSc or PhD in a relevant subject would be valued, as would commercial coding experience)
  • Demonstrably strong coding skills in Java together with an understanding of software engineering practice.
  • This is a small company, and cannot offer sponsorship, so you will need full existing right to work in the UK

The company are based in a pleasant Central London location within easy reach of transport hubs and excellent amenities. Work would be remote in the short term, but, combined with periodic office visits, may also be possible once Covid-19 restrictions are lifted.
