Solutions Engineer - Client-facing (26027)

Cambridge, may initially be remote
to £65k DoE plus benefits
Filled

Software development client-engagement, show-casing powerful SDKs

A highly skilled technical team pioneering data visualisation seeks a knowledgeable Solutions Engineer who will enjoy showcasing their new SDKs to clients, tailoring them to meet specific needs.

Their innovative SDKs use JavaScript / TypeScript and it’s expected that the Solutions Engineer will be very comfortable discussing the intricacies of these languages whilst always being able to keep the clients’ “big picture” needs in mind. The Solutions Engineer will be working in a pre-sales capacity, and will be instrumental in assessing the requirements and specific architecture challenges faced by individual clients, communicating directly with their developers. In order to do this effectively, the Solutions Engineer will be adept at building prototypes and proof-of-concept applications to demonstrate the feasibility, functionality and new features of the SDKs. The versatility to try out new technologies in collaboration with the client developers will be key.

Initially this role may be remote, but will be full time in the company's central Cambridge offices when the UK situation permits.

To be considered for this role, you will need:

  • A good degree (2:1 or above) in computing or an engineering subject from a well-respected university, and strong A-level grades
  • Established, robust programming abilities and an appreciation for full stack development. Either you will be a developer working in modern JavaScript already, or you'll be coming from another language but will have already done your homework, be familiar with web technologies, and be extremely keen to invest your own time to develop your JavaScript skills (and your CV will reflect this)
  • The confidence and competence to actively engage with developers at other companies
  • Excellent communication skills, including an awareness of how to present a software product honestly but positively, with a view to getting people on board with the technology you're proposing

You will be comfortable with public speaking, should the occasion arise, and giving technical presentations. You will be happy to travel once it is safe to do so.

The ideal candidate may also have experience of data visualisation and SPAs, have worked with governments or in cyber-security, and/or have skills with React, Angular or other client-side frameworks. Prior solutions development or pre-sales engineering experience would be an asset.
