Build on your software development background, move into product management

You may have a background working as part of a software development team, but be interested in the bigger picture: product direction, customer needs, future plans, how best to convey power and functionality. Or you may already work as a software product manager.

In this role you’ll research and analyse industry trends in a specific field, both your company’s products and competitors’. You’ll regularly speak with enthusiastic users, and reconcile requirements into a roadmap for the future. You’ll be joining a distributed, collaborative team of product managers.

Your background will include:

  • An understanding of the commercial software development process – likely gained first-hand – including the relative difficulty and time of tasks and features
  • A “data-driven” but also “people-driven” mindset: facts and figures, also talking to people to understand requirements in detail
  • Strong analytical skills, breaking down a problem, identifying areas of commonality, and taking a whole system view, considering the future

Together the above skills will help you adequately capture requirements and build a roadmap. Ideally your experience may also include some knowledge of electronics, CAE or EDA systems for digital design (PCB or IC).

Whilst hybrid working is not available in this instance, there is the option to work fully remotely within the UK (as your team are distributed) or work full time from the company’s Cambridge, UK offices. In both cases this is a full time position, 5 days a week, and full existing UK work permission is required, without sponsorship.

Please note: even if you don’t have exactly the background indicated, do contact us now if this type of job is of interest – we may well have similar opportunities that you would be suited to. And of course, we always get your permission before submitting your CV to a company.
