Cambridge, full/part time

Articulate, motivated, people skills, Office, databases, friendly team

Are you a bright, outgoing and motivated person with good people skills, who would enjoy working in a role that offers variety, interesting work and support from a small friendly team? If you have an interest in technology, this would be an advantage.

ECM is a well-established, specialist technical recruitment consultancy with an enviable reputation. We have our own modern offices on the outskirts of Cambridge and we offer a friendly, relaxed but professional environment. Your duties would include:

  • Helping to run the office, taking calls, responding to emails and typing. You should be a confident user of Microsoft Office (especially Word and Outlook) and ideally a touch typist. You will need an excellent telephone manner, and good written English vocabulary and grammar.

  • Liaising with our consultants to identify suitable candidates. Using our in-house database software, and with guidance on each role, you will help to shortlist suitable candidates. Confidence and care are required, and you’ll need to be able to develop relevant IT skills, technical knowledge, and good judgement. Prior use of CRM or similar database software is an advantage.

  • Contacting candidates by telephone and email to progress their applications. There is no “cold calling”, since you will be communicating with applicants who have already registered with us. This requires care, attention, gentle persistence and a personal touch.

You will be educated to degree level, or similar, in a numerate or literate subject. It’s important that you are adaptable, self-motivated, take direction well but don’t need to be “micro managed”. You will of course receive on-the-job training and friendly support from other team members to help you to quickly become effective. In addition to base salary, the role also offers an attractive performance-related bonus.

This would be a full-time, office-based position with a 37.5 hour working week. Part time applicants seeking a 4 day week will also be considered, with salary pro rata. If you have a sufficiently technical background and prove a good fit, there is potential in future to progress your career towards a consultant role – this is not guaranteed.

This is an active vacancy and successful candidates will rapidly progress to interview stage - so you are strongly advised to apply immediately if you are keen to join the team!
