Pulsed Power Engineer (26900)

South Central England
to £80,000 DoE + Package

Developing new power electronics for The Machine

Power – it enables the modern world to run. It’s a high valued commodity with far reaching impacts. So how does the thought of creating power appeal to you? As part of the pulsed power engineering team, you could be working on new technologies that will form the core function of The Machine – an electro-magnetic facility that will be a world-leading development in power generation.

Interested?

  • You’ll have a background in electronics or physics (ideally a relevant Master’s or PhD) and subsequently worked on high-voltage pulsed power systems (possibly in power generation, aerospace or similar)
  • You’ll be comfortable developing simulation models using COMSOL Multiphysics and be able to perform complex calculations for analysis. Experience with SolidWorks would be beneficial.
  • You’ll understand the safety aspects of high-risk transformational technologies.
  • You’ll have a keen interest in green technology.

The role will involve collaborating with others, so strong communication skills are required. Similarly, there is still a strong research aspect to the projects, so understanding how to document and write detailed reports is expected.

On offer is an excellent remuneration package including generous benefits (pension, free lunch, share options scheme). For qualifying candidates, relocation support is available.
