Developing and optimising solutions and reagents for molecular diagnostics

Meticulous. Detail-oriented. Process-driven. Does this describe you? We’re looking for a PhD scientist to join this growing bio-diagnostics company. Their innovative diagnostics system combines the technology of PCR based applications with highly optimised rapid procedures. This is due to the high care and attention given to performance and quality.

As a Product Development Bioscientist, you’ll be joining a team working out of new, state-of-the-art lab facilities. You’ll plan and execute your own experiments, collaborating with the team, mentoring junior scientists and enabling improvements to the overall products and technology. You’ll be taken out of your scientific comfort-zone, and thrive under pressure to formulate new solutions. You’ll focus in on the minutiae, understanding how slight differences can impact experiments and know how to streamline robust processes.

Requirements:

  • You’ll have a PhD in molecular biology and ideally industrial applied project experience. This should include extensive experience within a lab environment. (Equivalent industry experience will also be considered.)
  • You’ll know your way around RT-PCR and qPCR, with full understanding on the theory and with practical application experience.
  • Your hands-on experience around PCR based experiments should include knowledge and in-house optimisations of reagents and buffers (we are looking for more than following the manufacturer’s protocols and guidelines).
  • You will have some exposure with lyophilisation techniques and methods.

As a senior scientist, you’ll be able to lead projects, and coordinate people. You’ll ideally know about quality standards (including ISO13485). Additional knowledge or exposure to IVD applications, diagnostics for respiratory diseases or general lyophilisation techniques would be beneficial.

On offer is an excellent remuneration package including bonuses, enhanced employer pension contributions, and family medical insurance cover.
