Computational Physicist / Engineer (27081)

Cambridge with hybrid option
£32,000 to £45,000 DoE

Helping companies develop electromagnetic prototypes through maths modelling

Are you looking for that first role in industry or perhaps keen to change your career direction? This Cambridge based applications engineering team are recruiting and are looking to hire a customer-facing Physicist / Engineer to join them. Key background experience is in low frequency electromagnetics modelling which should include understanding of capacitive, resistive or inductive systems. The position requires knowledge in the applied physics of electromagnetics including application of relevant fundamental maths equations.

Customers could be either academic researchers or industry engineers – so understanding the terminology and engineering projects is essential. Most communications will be by email or by phone although occasional in person support could occur (so the ability to travel (either day trips or overnight) is required).

Requirements

  • 1st or 2.1 degree in computational physics, engineering mathematics or applied electronics. Master’s or PhD qualification in a relevant subject area. Additional postdoc or industry experience would be beneficial.
  • Demonstrable technical project experience with computational modelling software, used for electromagnetic simulation applications.
  • Excellent communication and time management skills.
  • Full, unrestricted rights to work in the UK (no company sponsorship is on offer).

Interested applicants do need to meet the above requirements. On offer is a competitive salary, and flexible working (which includes a hybrid policy – minimally 2 days per week in the office). The company provides technical training where needed and provides an excellent environment to help transition from academia to industry.
