Senior / Principal Mechanical Engineer (27622)
Leading the design and transition to manufacture of complex electromechanical medical devices, this role will involve you in managing development projects, and helping steer technical direction. Your remit will include requirements capture, progress reporting, and issue resolution, so you can expect frequent contact with clients, and of course you will have an eye out for future business opportunities. You'll be leading multidisciplinary development teams as well as having direct engineering input to help deliver finished solutions. Tasks may include innovative product design, problem solving, prototyping, supporting transfer to manufacture, and managing suppliers.
The role is on-site in the company's Cambridge offices with occasional visits to clients and manufacturers expected. Some home working may be possible for part of the week, where project work permits.
You will need:
- A 1st or 2.1 degree in mechanical engineering, or a similarly applicable subject
- Excellent designing, prototyping, and testing skills, demonstrated by having successfully taken multiple product concepts through development to manufacture
- Strong client-facing communication skill (you likely have some consultancy experience), and willingness to travel to client sites and manufacturers on occasion.
- Experience in project planning, project management, and technical leadership
- Full existing UK work permission without time limitation or sponsorship
The following skills are nice-to-haves that would enhance your application: CAD design (particularly with SolidWorks), plastics and injection moulding, medical device regulations (including familiarity with the processes/documentation needed for FDA and ISO approval).
For experienced mechanical engineers, this role is an opportunity to progress to a principal level, lead projects and work on the development of technologies that will positively impact the lives of patients. A competitive salary and benefits package is on offer to the successful candidate.
