ML algorithm development in the RF domain for electronic warfare

This renowned research institute is developing world-class capabilities in the understanding, management and exploitation of the electromagnetic environment through the application of AI technologies. They research new algorithms and techniques to be used in congested and chaotic RF environments and develop subsequent proof-of-concepts. While there is an academic feel to the work it has real-world impact as your discoveries are further developed and deployed by other teams.

The overriding objective of this team is to ensure the continued security and defence of the UK and UK personnel both at home and overseas. Your research will therefore be focused on detection and exploitation of RF signals including both protection measures and offensive capabilities. You will need to be eligible and willing to undergo SC security clearance checks. This typically means you need to be a UK citizen.

Requirements:

  • Demonstrable experience developing algorithms to solve problems in RF, RADAR, communication networks or similar physics or engineering domains.
  • Commercial or academic experience applying ML techniques to real-world problems.
  • Experience leading high-quality research projects including publishing research to top-tier reviewed journals.
  • Strong academics including a relevant PhD or equivalent research focused commercial experience.

Headquartered in central London (close to good rail links) you will need to be in the office weekly although as little as just one day per week with support for significant home working. This is a full time 3-year fixed term contract with the expectation that this can be extended. Benefits are generous and include private medical and dental plans, 10% employer pension contributions and an extensive structured professional development programme.
