Looking for a life science systems engineering and instrumentation expert. A serial deliverer of next-generation point-of-care and diagnostics device builds that incorporate sophisticated engineering with applied science capabilities.

You’ll be comfortable with PCR applications, microfluidics, optics and lasers as well as cartridge-based diagnostics. You can demonstrate concepts and innovative prototypes as well as take to manufacture low volume products. You are as comfortable working on your own in a lab / workshop as being part of a small senior team or leading a multidisciplinary group of engineers. You will understand the major global markets including the UK, EU, and USA. Moreover, you will also be capable of mentoring junior team members and be confident as a company representative at conferences and exhibitions.

Requirements:

  • Expert knowledge in systems engineering used for in vitro diagnostic devices / instruments in the life science and clinical markets. Must have demonstrable specialist understanding within this commercial business sector.
  • Understanding of how to design systems that incorporate complex biochemical assays and how to deliver products to manufacture.

  • Familiarity with relevant industry standards including ISO 13485, ISO 14971, 21CFR part 820 and MDR.

This is a senior, technical lead role with expectations of hands-on experience. Projects can be fast-paced with evolving requirements.

Interested candidates are expected to have a strong academic background (degree in electronics, mechatronics or physics), but moreover have built a strong career in systems engineering for life sciences.

On offer is an excellent compensation package with a wide range of benefits. The role is expected to be onsite with hybrid work options possible (when projects allow). Some international travel would be required for client visits.
