Senior Embedded Software Engineer (27748)
This market leader in scientific instrumentation has dedicated engineering groups covering mechanical, electronics and software engineering. Their firmware team is part of their software group and also works closely with the electronics engineers. They are looking for a highly experienced, senior engineer to join this team.
Their product lines are based on high electromechanical precision, utilising firmware that drives motors, real time sensors and automated robotic systems. This is typically achieved using C / C++ embedded on ARM Cortex-M. As a Senior Engineer, you would work on multidisciplinary projects that include shipping firmware, integrating third-party modules, systems architecture, and interfacing with C#.NET code on the PC side.
Requirements:
- Demonstrable and varied project experience in commercial grade embedded software / firmware development with expertise using C / C++ on ARM microcontrollers (ideally Cortex-M). This should include complicated and sophisticated electromechanical applications.
- Expertise at system level engineering including distributed microcontrollers, electronic communications and module integration.
- Strong understanding of electronics fundamentals and hands-on skills for motor and actuator controls.
- Project experience with CAN, Ethernet, UART, SPI and similar.
- Exposure to RTOS environments and use of standard embedded debugging tools.
- Experience with C# .NET, SWD debuggers and distributed software architecture would be desirable.
Interested candidates should ideally have a degree in computer science or electronics, but moreover can still talk through the fundamentals. Further, an interest in scientific applications would be highly advantageous.
On offer is an excellent salary and benefits package. The role is based onsite, although the company will try to support flexible working around their core hours. Onsite parking is available.
